STS visit to Prysmian Slatina

Representatives of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) paid a working visit to Prysmian Romania's electrical and telecommunications cable factories. During this exchange of experience, STS specialists learned about the manufacturing process of fiber optic cables, power cables and other products for fiber optic cable connectors made by Prysmian Group in Slatina or in other factories, having discussions about innovative IT&C solutions that can be implemented using equipment produced by Prysmian Group.

STS provides services in the field of government communications and information technology for public institutions and authorities in Romania, with ongoing projects to implement and develop complex special telecommunications infrastructures with national coverage, offering technical solutions involving state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. Through this visit, STS specialists had the opportunity to see different cable manufacturing technologies and the quality standards required in the field, as well as other useful information in the design processes of telecommunication networks provided to the Romanian state.

Prysmian operates two plants in Romania. The company in Slatina produces cables for the telecommunications industry and is the largest fibre optic cable production plant in Europe and the largest Prysmian Group plant in the world. Also here, different types of cables for low, medium and high voltage electrical systems are produced, adapted for any operating conditions, as well as a wide range of fibre optic cables adapted for any application.

STS specialists also discovered at Prysmian various technical solutions that can be implemented at the level of local authorities to increase the degree of digitization and internet access of localities in Romania, being presented digital transformation projects carried out by the company in Plaiuri and Petreștii de Jos localities in Cluj county.
